Blonde hair is gorgeous—but high-maintenance. Without the right routine, brassiness and breakage show up fast. Here's how to keep your blonde looking salon-fresh in between visits.
1. Toner Is Key
Every lightening service at Glam By Kelly ends with a custom toner. It locks in shine, cancels brass, and keeps your color vibrant. Plan to refresh it every 4–6 weeks.Bonus Tip: Book a quick Toner & Treat combo to get a deep-conditioning mask too.
2. Use Purple (or Blue) Shampoo—Sparingly
Purple targets yellow tones (great for lighter blondes).
Blue cancels orange (ideal for darker blondes or balayage).
Use just 1–2× per week—too much can make your hair dull or ashy.
Follow up with a moisturizing, sulfate-free shampoo the rest of the week. Want recs? I love Kérastase Blond Absolu and Redken Brownlights.
3. Deep Condition Weekly
Bleached hair loses moisture fast. Use a weekly bond-building mask like Olaplex or K18, and apply a leave-in conditioner with heat/UV protection. Healthy blondes are hydrated blondes!
4. Protect from Heat & Sun
Always use a heat protectant spray before styling.
Keep tools below 375°F to avoid fried ends.
For outdoor time, wear a hat or UV spray—sun fades blonde quickly.
5. Watch Your Water
Hard water in North Texas can dull blonde fast.Install a shower filter, use a clarifying shampoo monthly, and always rinse hair right after swimming.
6. Stick to a Trim & Tone Schedule
Service | Frequency |
Gloss/Toner | Every 4–6 weeks |
Trim | Every 8–10 weeks |
Full Blonding | Depends on method—ask your stylist |
7. Fuel Your Hair from Within
Healthy hair starts inside.Drink water, eat protein-rich foods, and sleep on a silk pillowcase to reduce damage and frizz.
